It is vital for all dogs and puppies to learn sit and drop as soon as they join your household. This teaches them manners and to look up to you as their leader.

Anyone can teach their puppy or dog good manners. Just use consistency and reward good behaviour. Do not punish bad behaviour – ignore it unless it is dangerous. A dog’s poor behaviour is like a child throwing a tantrum. If you ignore the tantrum long enough they will just give up. So will your dog, especially if you reward it with a treat or a favorite toy when it does what you ask.

Benefits of Basic Dog Obedience Training

There is nothing better than an obedient dog. But it does not happen overnight. It takes patience, persistence, consistency and love. All a puppy or dog wants from you is your time and company. If you do not have this to give to your pet dog then why have you got one in the first place?

Leaving your best mate locked up in the back yard day after day only asks for trouble. If you do not have time for your pet dog then think about making time or rehoming it.

Watch the video
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=P4179b8CKsA

Basic dog obedience is as simple as sit, drop and stay. These are the three basic commands to train dogs from the very start.

Training Dogs to Stay

Now your dog is solid on the sit and drop commands start introducing the stay. I use feed time to start this puppy training.

Your dog wants its dinner and learns very quickly to sit and stay if it wants its food. Teaching it to stay and wait for its food is teaching your dog basic good manners.

With your dog’s dinner in one hand tell your dog to sit. Once your dog sits, tell it to stay and give the stay hand signal. This hand signal is an open hand with the palm facing the dog, like a stop sign. Give the signal and say ‘stay’ and put the food down. If the dog moves pick the food up and start again. You may have to repeat this a number of times when you first start. Be patient.

Don’t expect a puppy to stay still for more than a couple of seconds to start with so release it almost straight away. Once your dog or puppy gets the idea, start increasing the time it waits for you to release them to eat. If you have more than one dog, use numbers as release words. This way each dog learns to associate the different sounds to them individually. If you only have one dog you can still use free or okay.

Now your dog stays well for a few minutes at a time, start putting distance between you. Move further and further away until you are out of sight. Do a few things and when you come back, your dog will still be sitting, waiting to be released to eat. Most puppies and dogs pick this up in just a couple of days.

When your pet dog sits and stays well, teach it to stay in the drop position. The sit, drop and stay will serve you and you best friend well for many years to come.

These are the three most fundamental dog training basics you teach your dog. Do yourself a favour and check out your local dog obedience training club. Most are really affordable and run by volunteers. It helps to get the advice of volunteer experts willing to share their time with you and your dog

Start training your new puppy or dog right from the time it comes home. Puppies learn really quickly and new adult dogs will too – that is if you set the ground rules right from the start when you train your dog.

Are you enough of a pack leader for your dog? It is really important for your dog to know where it fits in to your family. And you, as the pack leader, are responsible for you dog’s wellbeing and for teaching it your rules.

A well-balanced dog is one that understands your rules as all they want is to keep you happy.

Discipline, exercise and love are the three most important things – in that order, your dog needs from you to keep it from displaying destructive and frustrating behavior.

Do you and you dog a favor; go to dog obedience classes right from the start as it will increase the bond between the two of you.

What Method to use when teaching Basic Obedience

The method I recommend in all dog training techniques is positive reinforcement and I tend to ignore poor behavior unless it is dangerous. This way my dogs understand that when they behave well they get the attention they want and behaving badly gets them nothing. Yelling and screaming at your dog just makes the situation worse. If you feel frustrated – just say nothing, walk away, and come back again later and try again.

Here’s a short dog traing video
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=wHUQr6VlFsE

I use special treats that my dogs will do almost anything for and I only use them for this purpose. My dogs know they have to work for their treats and they love training in basic obedience - it keeps them happy, healthy and tired.

How to Train your Dog to Sit

This is one of the easiest things you can train your dog or puppy to do. Teaching a good sit is the foundation of your working future together.

It really all starts here. The sit is one of the first basic commands you learn at dog training school and it is easy enough to teach your dog at home. The good thing is that you can teach your dog to sit from anywhere – while on the couch in front of the television or while walking around your back yard.

I always have treats in my pocket wherever I am. And my dogs pretty much follow me wherever I go as they are opportunists.

To teach your dog or puppy to sit, stand in front of them and tell them to sit. As you tell your dog to ‘sit’, have a treat in your hand and bring it up over its nose from front to back.

Your dog will watch the treat go over its head and has no choice but to sit. Reward your dog immediately by giving it the treat and reinforcing your command with ‘good dog sit, good sit’. Or words that suit you but will achieve the same result.

How to Train your Dog to Drop

Teaching your dog to drop is easiest on the lead to start with. Once again, make sure you have your dog’s favorite treats before you begin your dog training.

With the lead in your left hand, take a couple of steps forward and give the hand signal and voice signal ‘drop’ simultaneously. The hand signal I use is an open hand with the palm facing the dog. When I first start training a dog to drop, I put a treat between my fingers to encourage the dog to follow the treat to the ground.

So, to go over that again. With the lead in your left hand and the treat ready in your right one, take a couple of steps and give the ‘drop’ command signaling with your right hand to give your dog direction. The hand should go straight down towards the ground.

Reward your dog the minute it obeys you and give it a lot of praise. Always reinforce the good behavior with ‘good dog drop’ in a happy bright voice.

Remember, practice makes perfect. Some dogs will get the idea quicker than others. Always remember to finish your training on a positive note and there is no need to do more than 5 minutes training at a time.

You cannot stop the march of the tiny dogs! They are advancing on every major city. And why shouldn’t they? People want pet dogs, but they want them without the fuss, maintenance, and expense of keeping a normal size dog. Plus, with the size of the average apartment floor plan, people want a dog that can fit into the apartment. All of it, all at once.

Petite, cute chihuahua puppies are the economy-sized solution to the dog ownership puzzle. But don’t think that they let their size act as a deterrent to ferocity. Nope, a chihuahua on the alert and on guard will put up a fierce display, three whole pounds of canine machismo. If you want people to sneak up on you undetected, don’t get a chihuahua. They’re so aggressive, they’ll bark at airplanes flying over.

Of course it’s all show. If you were that size, courage would be your only defense, too. Breeders of chihuahua puppies regularly tout their merits as a great watch dog.

Different kinds of chihuahuas

The chihuahua breed, due to its popularity, has been refined into several varieties:

* Teacup chihuahua puppies - The even amazingly-smaller chihuahua! Teacup means just what it says; the new-born puppy can fit comfortably in a teacup. This doesn’t mean they like tea. They’re Mexican, so they like tequila. No, I’m just kidding! Alcohol is toxic to dogs.

* Long haired chihuahua puppies - Somewhat larger in appearance, because they have long hair. This gives them a somewhat elfish appearance. But don’t look for a luxurious coat like a bichon frise or a shih tzu. Their coat isn’t as attractive, but is also much easier to care for.

* Blue chihuahua puppies - No kidding! The “blue” is actually more of a gray color, like a greyhound or a Burmese cat. Quite handsome! But also rarer and more expensive.

* Brown chihuahua puppies - This is the more common color of chihuahua, ranging from light tan to golden brown. Some of them get almost a white color. The lighter-colored ones tend to develop stained fur in their old age.

* Tricolor chihuahua puppies - This is the variety with black, brown, and tan markings, similar to the markings on other tricolor dog breeds. Tricolor chihuahuas tend to be more even tempered than their high-strung cousins.

* Chihuahua and pomeranian mix puppies - This half-breed has almost become a popular breed in itself, amongst the various varieties of chihuahua mix puppies. What you tend to end up with is a smaller pomeranian rather than a furry chihuahua. A hilarious practice is to name them “wookie”, after the Star Wars character.

How to raise chihuahua puppies

Tenderly. Be aware that at the smallest range of the spectrum, especially with teacup-sized, there is a tendency towards birth defects and this breed has been prone to seizures caused by the extremely small size of its skull. This is the most effective guide I could find on raising and training a Chihuahua.

Because chihuahuas are prone to nip when frightened and are so small that they are fragile, it is definitely not recommended to have small children around them. Even a cat can be a threat.

Always keep them warm. They are very warm-blooded and have a high metabolism, so this breed definitely needs a warm bed and a sweater when it goes out, at least in the winter.

Feeding chihuahua puppies

Chihuahuas are prone to hypoglycemia, which means low blood sugar. They do best with concentrated wet, meaty, canned dog food and only some dry kibble on the side. Special care must be taken not to overfeed them, particularly not too much fat, since even a little extra weight is a lot for a chihuahua to carry around. For still another complication, chihuahuas tend to be very finicky eaters, so you should watch them carefully for signs of malnutrition.

One has to understand that the chihuahua is a very delicate breed. Expect to visit the vet more often. This isn’t like a hardier breed such as a labrador or shepherd, where you can just keep it in the yard with a bag of kibble and not worry. It’s a petite, fussy breed for petite, fussy people.

Caring for chihuahua puppies

If there’s anything that this breed is, it is loyal. Even when adopted into a large family, a chihuahua will frequently pick one person and be loyal to just that person, even to the point of being extremely jealous of that person’s other companions! They also tend to be cliquish - they get along well with other small dogs but not at all with larger breeds or any other species.

Grooming isn’t much of a concern with all but the long-haired varieties, and even they will do fine with an occasional brushing. What you have to watch out for are health problems. This breed is prone to eye infections, bone and joint problems, arthritis, malformed skulls, and bronchitis. Chihuahuas have a surprisingly long life expectancy, ranging from 12 to 18 years. Here s a short and cute video on Chihuahuas -

Above all, give them lots of gentle love and care. This is definitely a breed to be cherished.

Here’s that Chihuahua training guide I mentioned earlier.

A List of Attributes that Make a Labradoodle the Perfect Dog

Labradoodles are the ultimate doggie guide and companion for blind people or those with sight impairment.

As you can see, Labradoodles are everybody’s dream dog. And just about anybody would love to have them for their own.

And it’s great how labradoodles find it easy to get employment. The following qualifications make them highly in demand in a lot of specialized areas:

You get this every year. TV commercials show a little golden retriever puppy hanging in a Christmas stocking and everybody goes “Awwww! I wanna do that for my kids!” Why not basset hound or doberman puppies? They’re cute, too. They always use golden retrievers. Especially the white golden retriever puppies. The white ones look blond when they’re young, which makes them seem even cuter, apparently. Or instead of the stocking display, they’ll have the gingham-covered basket with the pile of golden retriever puppies sleeping in front of a fireplace.

If somebody else just gave your kid a gift of this variety, the first thing you have to understand is that a golden retriever puppy will get large. Golden retrievers generally get to stand about three feet high and weigh around 65 pounds fully grown. There are no miniature golden retriever puppies. So, hang in there mom and dad, you might get through this yet. And isn’t it always the grandma who lives three cities away who thinks of doing this? Whoever it is, rest assured that they knew that they weren’t going to be the ones stuck cleaning up after it.

If you’re still not sure what they look like, think of the TV commercial for Bush’s Baked Beans. “Roll that beautiful bean footage!” Yes, that dog! Golden retrievers are in fact routinely used in TV and movies because they are so easy to train.

We might as well tell you the good news: golden retrievers are one of the most agreeable pet breeds you could ever ask for. They are hardy and smart, so they’re fairly easy to train and relatively low on health maintenance. They have a naturally sociable disposition; I’ve never heard of a golden retriever turning out mean. In fact, you’ll have a hard time with them if you have to leave them alone, because they will whine and bark if they’re lonely. In fact, they are so friendly that they are notoriously poor guard dogs; they’ll greet the burglar with a happy face-licking.

In training golden retriever puppies, positive reinforcement works best of all; most of the time a word of praise and a cuddle is enough, as this is one breed that is usually eager to please. They’re pretty easy to train overall, but one thing you cannot expect of them is to stay cooped up in an apartment with no place to run and nobody to keep them company. This is an extremely active dog, and ideally needs to be taken for a run around the city park daily.

With all that activity comes a hearty appetite. If you’re wondering about golden retriever puppies and feeding amounts, they’re usually best with about two cups of dry kibble per day. They seem to do better on a quality brand of dry kibble food, rather than wet canned dog food. By the time they’re adult, you can supplement the dry kibble with the canned meat dog food.

Like the name suggests, golden retrievers retrieve. They’re great for playing fetch with just about anything you throw. Sticks, balls, frisbees, your underwear, they don’t care. They’re happy to be active and feel useful. They also make good assistance dogs for the elderly and handicapped if well-trained. They are noted for their intelligence and can learn dozens of commands. They also love the water, perhaps the most of any dog breed, so they make good “beach dogs”.

If you need a motivator for an exercise regimen for yourself, a golden retriever puppy just might do it. Just like you, they can actually become obese if not given exercise. Don’t worry, they’ll come to get you every morning at six AM sharp, leash in mouth, eager to get you up and started on your morning jog. This is not the dog for the grumpy introvert!

One word of caution: because this is such a hugely popular breed, they are the victims of sloppy breeding practices in the puppy mills. While they are hardy in their early years, they tend to develop health problems later on, and these are usually the result of genetic problems.

And if you actually got the golden retriever puppies in Christmas stockings, get the picture quick and get them out of there before they make a mess!

Your pet dog needs as much nutrition as you do. So, why don’t we give them nutritious but home made dog diet from time to time? You might be worried about the nutrients that some packaged dog food supplies your pet. However, the packaged foods that are authenticated by the government are good sources of nutrients and are also usually safe. However, there are some pets that are allergic to the preservatives or worse; you are unsatisfied with the nutrition they provide. Well, whatever the case, homemade dog food is not at all difficult to prepare.
You can make nice, wholesome food for them they will relish...

Domestic pets require sufficient nutrition in the same way humans require nutrition. A homemade dog diet provides your pet with proper nutrition. The government authenticates prepackaged dog food to be of sufficient nutritional values for your dog’s needs. In the same way humans have allergies, some pets have food specific allergies related to manufactured supplemental nutrition. These and other circumstances call for a homemade dog diet. As fact, homemade dog diets aren’t difficult to prepare. Wholesome, natural foods allow dogs to enjoy their healthy nutritional habits.

Advantages of a Homemade Dog Diet

1. Homemade dog diets increase the viability of their current immune system. The dog’s body heals quicker from injury, fights off more infections in less amounts of time and recovers better from allergic reactions.

2. Prepackaged preservatives are not always healthy for your dog. Dogs may actually suffer from more illnesses by consuming certain types of preservatives.

3. Government uncertified prepackaged food doesn’t always have the proper nutritional values your dog needs. The dog may suffer injuries from uncertified prepackaged food.

Components of a Wholesome Diet

Timeless debates discuss what exactly the proper diet means in the order of food consumption by dogs. Some say meat and bones provide the best nutrition, while others claim organic food gives natural, unprocessed energy. There may never be one side of the debate better than the other. Choosing the proper diet for your dog starts and ends with you. The AAFCO defines organic food as to contain no artificial preservatives or coloring. Owner’s can provide organic and meat compounds for a well-balanced nutritional diet.

Homemade Recipes for Dog Food

Your dog will love chowing down on some of the following recipes.

The standard intake for a 20lb dog consist of a 12oz portioned meal.

A good meal includes 4oz dedicated to protein. A good source of protein comes from meat, chicken and eggs.

Carbohydrates make up part of a well balanced diet. Focus 4oz of the meal on providing carbohydrates through cooked rice, pasta, potatoes, or oatmeal.

The last 4 oz of a great homemade dog meal include vegetable ingredients. Vegetables serve a large portion of nutrients needed for proper-daily physiological events.

Avoid adding onions to the mixture since they contain large amounts of sulfur, harmful to dogs.

Mix and match the ingredients above for portioned meals throughout the day or serve them separately, which ever you and your dog prefers.

You can even create tasty gravy to compliment the dog’s homemade meal. Supplements include brewer’s yeast, kelp, wheat germ or milk. Adding a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the mixture provides linoleic oil to form good skin on the dog’s exterior.

Keep up with your dog’s weight to provide proper servings. The proportions described above serve a great baseline for proper servings. 12 oz for a 20lb dog, 24 oz for a 40lb dog and so on. Do not underfeed your pet or it will suffer poor nutritional health issues.

Dog’s physiological compositions change in light of overcoming a disease. Some dogs develop food allergies after or during exposure to a particular disease. Make sure to not include items your dog adversely reacts to. Keep up on good proportions with the above ingredients and your dog receives the absolute best balanced diet available.Article supplied courtesy of Kitty Barker.
For all the pet lovers who are looking to adopting a new dog, an American pit bull terrier is often touted as a poor choice. But irrespective of the bad press that this dog carries with it, you would be amazed to know that they are known for their loyalty and loving nature...

Adopting a dog provides an exciting turning point in a pet lover’s life. American pit bull terriers often get the shaft during selection of a puppy or dog. The average pet lover should overlook negative, media propaganda surrounding these loyal and loving dogs.

What are Some Differences in the American Pit Bull Terrier Compared to Other Breeds?

The American pit bull terrier gets a bad rap of being fierce in nature with accordance to its breed. The dogs best known will them selves every ounce of strength in determination of winning a fight with another dog. Only in these situations are American pit bull terriers ruthless in aggression. Family breeders claim American pit bull terriers to be one of the most loving and faithful dogs of all breeds. Dog breeders claim this breed will stick out the events of life through, until the end. American pit bull terriers develop a strong bond with their human owners. This breed combines great assets in warmth and ability to be fierce into one rare entity.

What Gave American Pit Bull Terriers the Bad Rap?

An event in the 1800’s ruined the public image of the American pit bull terrier. The dogs were born and break for the sole purpose of dog fighting and most matches did not conclude until one contender fell to its death. The wealthy used bull fighting as a source of entertainment until public alliances begged the British government to put an end to the torture of the innocent dogs. The end of bullfights sparked the beginning of dogfights in general but was eventually banned, as well. The public reached out to the loving, determined fighter dogs and started adopting them for domestic pets.

The breed introduced America to its arrival in the 1800’s and the dog’s violent history came with it. Similar bullfights ensued in America and the breed acquired a dangerous view by the average pet lover. Instilled fear made prospective pet owners steer away from purchasing the dogs for domestic pets. The government banned owning the American pit bull terrier as a pet due to its harsh and inaccurate reputation. Laws have been passed in an effort to get the American pit bull terrier out of homes, off the streets and undomesticated for good.

Are American Pit Bull Terriers Really Bad to Own?

Most agree the breed becomes victimized yet again by the human population. American pit bull terriers provide sweet tempered, loyal pets to prospective dog owners. Their breed contains features of courage and strength in comparison to other breeds. The bonds with humans will cause an American pit bull terrier to fight until the end on its owner’s behalf. Disabled or lonely people find a wonderful partnership through owning this breed. American pit bull terriers love to play, as well. Dogs of this breed engage the owner in playful situations, often and gain the title of being a clown in the essence of creating playful games.

People hold the responsibility of this dog’s bad public image. Several parts of the world create laws to ban the ownership of these wonderful pets. More often than not, owners take on the pet in order to create an image of being tough.

Do you desire owning a dog of this breed and still find it hard to believe in their mild, sweet and loyal temperaments?

Consider some further news in deciding whether or not to adopt a pit bull. This breed absolutely needs the owner’s attention and affection. Do not try and make a pit bull the first kind of dog you own. Experience in training dogs becomes necessary when handing the care and needs of this breed. This idea does not go hand-in-hand with the dangerous reputation the breed has acquired. Amateur dog owners just cannot provide the obedience training and affection this breed requires.

These dogs must be extensively trained to properly express their love and affection. This breed requires a delicate balance between discipline, love and attention in order to establish good respect between the dog and its owner. Dominating the dog as if it were a slave turns out an ill-tempered pet. Consistent exposure to the public allows the dog to adapt to newcomers more welcomingly.

American pit bulls get a bad rap from the same human kind it loves so dear. Society should turn back the clock, adopt this wonderful pet into their homes and start paying back wrongs made in the past. This breed is capable of holding its own in loyalty, affection and life long partnership value.

Got a new puppy home and wondering how to make it the best puppy in your neighborhood? Then you can definitely find help here. After spending some time with your puppy, you must have realized how important the training part becomes. Now you know whether it is its behavior with your guests or its littering habits, training makes it perfect. Presenting you some of the tips that I am sure is going to make you wiser.

When is the best time to train a pet?

Training tip one: This is one of the major issues that pet owners face about puppy training suggestion. The puppy usually is brought home when it is quite small, say around 3-4 weeks. The initial 4-5 weeks is always difficult to train it as it really misses its mother. Added to that is the litter that it leaves off wherever it goes. The reason behind this is the fact that the puppy isn’t really big enough to know its surroundings.
It is very similar to a month’s human baby and we know how futile it is to teach such a small baby anything. So the best time would be when the puppy is around 7-8 weeks old. That is the time it starts recognizing things and people.

How to start the training?

Training tip two: This is a very critical question and the answer to it would be its name. It is very important to make the puppy identify itself with a name. In the critical stage of socialization ( read the initial days), the puppy would be busy trying to accustom itself with its new home and people and in return would also seek its place in the house. Giving it a name and making him know that helps it be a part of the family. Call him with the chosen name as many times as possible, and reward him with something whenever he responds. A bright smile, a hug or just an enthusiastic “yes!” would do. Just make sure it feels recognized when it responds to the name.

It responds only to name but nothing else?

Training tip three: This is one of the mistakes owners commonly do. Though name is an important part of the puppy’s life, it is equally important to include it in other activities too. It is good that your puppy is responding. Take advantage of puppy training suggestion responsiveness to teach it to obey basic rules like sit, stand, etc. This can be done by playing innovative games with it. For example, sit and treat yourself a biscuit in front of it and show it do like wise. It may take time but timely rewards would ensure its obedience.

Training tip four: Responsiveness of the puppy also depends on how effective our communication is with it. A puppy won’t understand the human language and it would be a waste of energy if we try to teach it verbal “sit” and “stand”. Instead make use of your eye contact whenever you deal with it. Sit with it and give instructions through eye contact. This has proved to be very successful in most of the cases.

Isn’t the chew bone toy enough for it?

Training tip five: Pet owners often neglect the play part that is so important of any training. The busy ones always gift their puppy a chew bone and leave it to chew that. This is really awful and your puppy would learn nothing. Chew bone is a toy that would help her learn chew and nothing more than that. To make the puppy active, give it lots of toys but make sure you also play along with it.

But what games??

Training tip six: This is fairly easy. Include some active games like making it smell a thing and hide it somewhere. Gesture it to search for it and then reward it with something. This is also a great way to help it learn some basic things like giving, taking, sitting, etc. Once it understands the expression, you won’t need to reward it every time.

Training tip seven: Also make sure that you always have a reward waiting for it at the end and the puppy should know it. It has been observed that they become lazy and unresponsive if they see no reward for the effort.

Games are good. What about its compatibility with others?

Training tip eight: The social angle to the puppy training is very important. It is essential that you take the puppy for long strolls, simultaneously introducing it to your friends and the surrounding. This makes the puppy more aware of its environment and also its role in that part of the world.

What about the die-hard habits?

Training tip nine: No matter what training you provide to your puppies, they always end up doing few things you would rather avoid. Scolding them or saying “No” won’t work. They have a tendency to do things you say “No”. So don’t ever forbid them to do anything. Rather coolly ignore the act and they would stop doing it!

Training tip ten: If even that doesn’t help, the best thing to do is to divert their attention from the present destructive work. Start playing a game with it like bring your face near to it so that it has no chance to escape its attention. If it doesn’t seem to like the game, then try to make a noise that would startle it, then quickly guide her to some other task. This would definitely make it forget its previous work!

Training your puppy is definitely a tough task. It is as good as raising your own kid. Therefore, add a pinch of love and affection while doing it, and you would find that not only they learn better but your puppy would also brim with love just like your young one does!

Every family loves the idea of having a dog and that doesn’t mean single people shouldn’t have a dog by the way. If you live with others ensure that you all agree about getting a puppy or a dog before rushing out and taking the plunge. Not including everyone on the decision can sometimes turn a little nasty. So discuss it first - always. Different dogs suit different abodes. For instance, it is unlikely that a Bull Mastiff would work out in a studio apartment with a couple of fragile fish tanks.

Here are some important facts to consider. You will need to walk or exercise your puppy or dog - not once a month but daily. If you have carpet, I hope that it’s not white! It’s cruel to get a long haired dog and live in a hot climate. Think about it, they are not bred for that environment. Equally, a short haired dog will suffer if it snows almost all year round in your area. Puppies and dogs are not naturally tidy. There will be a little picking up to do - often. Taking the time to train your puppy is essential - are you prepared to do this? You will not be able to go away for a week and leave a bag of food behind for the pup or dog to portion out for itself over that period. Many people forget that holidays need some thinking through when you have a pet.

As a relation or a friend of the family, think carefully about giving a pet as a gift to someone in that family and always discuss it initially with the parents or the heads of the household. There have been many instances where the puppy or dog have had to be returned or passed on because there was lots of love but not enough thought.

Exercising is a must. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is a ‘do when you can requirement’. We all live healthier happier lives when we exercise regularly. Throw a ball or a stick. Labs are especially good for this because they instinctively return it. When you’re walking your pup, don’t be so inconsiderate as to not pick up the poop when it’s dropped on someone’s lawn or walkway. I told you there were responsibilities and this is one of them.

Believe it or not, there’s a big difference between getting a male or female dog. Male dogs can become aggressive and you may need to have the dog desexed or neutered. If you have a female dog, every male dog in the area seems to know where you live and wants her phone number desperately. More accurately, male dogs will be hanging around often on walks if you have a female dog but if it becomes overwhelming, you can go to a Vet and have her desexed.

If it’s one particular person in the house who wants a puppy or dog, then make sure they read this article and explain cleary the responsibilities that come with being a dog owner.

Here’s where we get down to the nitty gritty. Make sure that the household budget can afford a dog. Here’s a small list to consider: purchasing the dog, registering the dog, vaccinations, good food, collars, a lead, a dog basket or crate, dog mat, tennis balls and other toys etc. If you decide to go ahead, check out some of the dog pounds and farms in your region. Sometimes you can find the perfect companion with little outlay and perhaps save their life. Purebreds is worth another article but don’t discount that alternative if you want to show your dog or get involved in breeding.

If this article has caught your attention then not only have you been considering training your puppy or dog but you may have already considered that there may be some ramifications if you don’t. Either way this article opens up some valuable training ideas and allows you to investigate further if you choose to.

Puppy Training is for every dog, regardless of breed, size or temperament. Puppy training is one of the fun parts about having a puppy. The single most important aspect of dog and puppy training is that you reward and praise your dog or puppy each and every time she does the right thing.

The main goal of puppy training is to prevent problems before they get started. The best time to start puppy training is as soon as your bundle of joy comes into your home. Puppy training is very important, whether you are training your first puppy or your 20th. Puppy training is, as much as anything else, the formation of good habits.

Puppy training is often considerably easier than training an adult or adolescent dog. Puppy Training is for every dog, regardless of breed or size. Puppy training is an important part if your dog’s life. Although puppy training is not hard, it takes a lot of dedication and patience on the part of the owner.

The goal of young puppy training is to get your puppy headed in the right direction to enhance future formal obedience training. Puppy training is the key to proper adjustment. Puppy training is a vital and necessary component of a well-adjusted, well-behaved dog. The main purpose in puppy training is to build a communication system between the two of you. We know that puppy training is very important to the character development of your puppy.

A puppy does not have a very long attention span so short segments of training are definitely the best. Puppy training is a matter of consistency which means always using the same word for each command. Puppy training is nothing more than positive praise when he does a good job and prevention so that he doesn’t make any mistakes.
The greatest value of very early puppy training is the opportunity you create for your puppy to succeed and be praised for it.

Puppy training is widely recognized as a huge step in deriving maximum pleasure from a well controlled and obedient dog. If you’ve got a new puppy, then puppy training is vital to his future well-being. Part of puppy training is socializing your pup to people, other dogs and new situations and surroundings.. All training, including the early puppy training is teaching your dog what he or she knows to be safe and happy.

A lot of good puppy training is preventative (housetraining, barking and chewing, for example). The goal of puppy training is to build a bond between you and your dog and for both of you to enjoy the process. New dog owners may be daunted by the task, but puppy training is not as hard as you think. Puppy Training will teach your puppy basic manners that will be carried into your puppy’s adult life. Early puppy training should be done with bits of food as rewards such as pieces of cheese (kibble takes them too long to chew).

Introducing your puppy to new experiences and new locations is also an important part of puppy training. Repetitive actions are a large part of dog and puppy training. You want to have a smooth and easy time with this puppy, and a wonderful life with her. Puppy training will help you turn an adorable ball of fur into a well trained companion for life.
